Balca Ergener (*1980, Istanbul) lives and works in Zurich and Istanbul. She received her B.A. from New York University in 2002, an M.A. in Critical and Cultural Studies from Bogazici University, Istanbul in 2007 and an M.F.A. from Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in 2020. Ordinary landscapes, relationships among space, bodies, affects and memory are central themes in her works. In recent years, exploring the concept of home as a combination of the material and the imaginary has become a focus. Her works include photographic series, installations with photographs and textual elements, collaborative book projects and collective writing performances. She had a solo exhibition at Depo Istanbul in 2024 and participated in various exhibitions at venues in Istanbul, Switzerland and Germany.
